Privacy Policy

Ritestream Studios Ltd ("Ritestream," "we," "us," or "our") Effective date: 14 April 2026 Last updated: 14 April 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ritestream Studios Ltd collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you access or use the Ritestream website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Who we are

Ritestream Studios Ltd operates a free, ad-supported video streaming platform that allows viewers to watch content and allows creators to upload and share content. References to "you" mean any user of the Service, whether a viewer, registered account holder, or creator.

For any questions about this Policy, you can contact us at privacy@ritestream.com (privacy matters) or legal@ritestream.com (legal notices).

2. Information we collect

We collect information in three ways: information you give us, information we collect automatically, and information we receive from third parties.

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account information such as username, email address, password, date of birth, and (for creators) payout or verification details where applicable.
  • Content you upload, including videos, thumbnails, titles, descriptions, captions, tags, and any metadata or communications associated with that content.
  • Communications with us, including support requests, feedback, and correspondence.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and technical data: IP address, device identifiers, operating system, browser type, language, and crash logs.
  • Usage data: videos viewed, watch time, search queries, clicks, scroll behaviour, referral URLs, and timestamps.
  • Location data derived from your IP address (approximate, city/country level).
  • Cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies (see Section 7).

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Authentication providers if you sign in via a third-party service.
  • Advertising and analytics partners who share measurement, attribution, or audience data.
  • Rights holders, moderators, and law enforcement when they submit reports or legal requests.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and provide customer support.
  • Host, transcode, recommend, and deliver video content.
  • Personalise content, recommendations, and the user experience.
  • Serve, measure, and improve advertising (including contextual and interest-based ads).
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Use.
  • Enforce our rights, including investigating suspected intellectual property infringement and pursuing legal claims.
  • Comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and protect the rights, property, and safety of Ritestream, our users, and the public.
  • Send service-related communications and, where permitted, marketing communications (which you can opt out of).

4. Legal bases for processing (where applicable)

Where data protection laws require a legal basis, we rely on one or more of the following: performance of a contract with you; your consent (which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service, securing the platform, and running our business; and compliance with legal obligations.

5. Advertising

The Service is free and supported by advertising. We and our advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve ads, measure ad performance, limit ad frequency, and build audience segments. This may include interest-based (personalised) advertising based on your activity across the Service and, where permitted, other sites and apps.

Where required by law, we will obtain your consent before using cookies or similar technologies for advertising, and you can change your preferences at any time through our cookie controls. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (aboutads.info), the Network Advertising Initiative (networkadvertising.org), and Your Online Choices (youronlinechoices.eu), and through device-level controls on your mobile operating system.

6. How we share information

We share information with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Service (hosting, content delivery, transcoding, analytics, customer support, payment processing, anti-fraud, and security).
  • Advertising and measurement partners, as described in Section 5.
  • Other users and the public, for content and profile details you choose to make public. Videos you upload, your creator name, and associated metadata may be viewed, shared, and embedded by others.
  • Rights holders and their agents, where reasonably necessary to respond to infringement reports, takedown notices, or legal claims.
  • Law enforcement, regulators, and other authorities, where required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
  • Corporate transactions, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, in which case information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. Some sharing with advertising partners may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under certain laws (such as CCPA); where that is the case, you can exercise your rights as described in Section 10.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure performance, secure the Service, and support advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where provided, through our in-product cookie preferences tool. Blocking some cookies may affect functionality of the Service.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary by data type and context. When information is no longer needed, we delete, anonymise, or aggregate it.

Content you upload may remain on the Service after your account is closed if it has been shared, embedded, or is subject to a legal hold, and may persist in backups for a limited period.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Delete your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
  • Port your information to another service.
  • Opt out of interest-based advertising and, where applicable, the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection or privacy authority.

To exercise these rights, contact privacy@ritestream.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact privacy@ritestream.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. International transfers

We operate globally and may transfer, store, and process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect information transferred internationally.

13. Third-party content and links

The Service may include links to third-party websites, services, or embedded content. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Please review their policies before providing any information.

14. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by other reasonable means. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when this Policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
